Mrs. Mary Eudora McQueen Wright, age 83, of Douglas passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 18, 2009, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. Mrs. Wright, a native of Clinch County, had lived in the Douglas area for most of her life. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having worked at the Irwin County Hospital and Shady Acres Health and Rehabilitation. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee McQueen and the late Libby Blondell Hardin McQueen, and the wife of the late Dorcey Vickers. Mrs. Wright was a member of the Bethel Baptist Chuch, where she had been the teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. Survivors include: Husband: Jake Wright of Douglas, Ga.; Children: Wayne Wright of Millwood, Ga.; Debbie Robinson of Logan, Ga., James Wendell Vickers of Broxton, Ga.; and Wanda L. Jones of Douglas, Ga.; Step-Daughter: Latrelle Ragan of Madison, Florida.; 3 Brothers: Billy McQueen of Providence, Rhode Island; Bobby McQueen of Jacksonville, Florida; and Larry McQueen of Douglas, Ga.; 2 Sisters: Sarah Franklin, and Joyce Odom, both of Chipley, Florida.; Special Niece: Blondell Thomas of Douglas, Ga.; Special Friends: Ollie Andrews, and Juanice Harper, both of Douglas, Ga.; 8 Grandchildren.; A Host of Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and Other Relatives.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 11:00 A. M., at the Bethel Baptist Church, with Rev Kenyon Fennell, Rev. Randy DeLoach, and Rev. Matt Rutland officiating. The Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Clay Thomas, Bryan Howell, Michael Harper, Stanley Harper, Clayton Wright, Jesse Jones. Honorary Pallbearers were: Adult Sunday School Class, Larry Harper, Andy McQueen, Charlie Nipper, Jr., Joe Wright, Loran Shrouder, Allen Purvis, Dyane Purvis, and Kenny Paulk. Special Musical Selections, “God Will Take Care Of You”, “Ten Thousand Years”, and Amazing Grace”, were rendered by the Soloist, Jamey Shrouder, with Judy Foskey, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude”, soft hymns were presented by the Pianist, Judy Foskey.
