Mr. Billy Lamar O’Neal, age 52, of Douglas, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. O’Neal, a native of Belle Glade, Florida, had lived in the Douglas and Coffee County area for most of his life. He was employed by Piggy Wiggly for 15 years, and the City of Douglas for about 20 years, as a Back Hoe Operator, and a Correctional Coordinator. He was the son of the late James Junior O’Neal. Survivors include: His wife: Joan Canada O’Neal of Douglas, Ga. 2 Daughters: Jennifer O’Neal, and Jessica O’Neal, both of Ambrose, Ga. 2 Grandsons: Terry Allen O’Neal and Ashton Heith Griffin of Ambrose, Ga. Mother: Gladys Bryant O’Neal of Douglas, Ga. 3 Brothers: Daniel O’Neal, Carlton O’Neal, and Steven O’Neal, all of Douglas, Ga. 2 Sisters: Susan Powell of Mobile, Alabama, and Joann Underwood of Jacksonville, Fla. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., at the Southview Church of God, with Rev. Hilton Martin and Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating. The Internment followed in Bethany Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Ronnie Patton, Curtis Harper, Wayne Perry, Aaron Patton, Andrew O’Neal, and Eric Lott. Honorary Pallbearers were: Ashley Patton, David Chaney, and James O’Neal. Special Musical Selections, “Amazing Grace”, was presented acappella by the Soloist, Ronnie Patton, “Daddy’s Hands”, was presented by the Soloist, Amber Bounds, with Taped Music, and “You’re Invited To My Mansion”, was presented by Taped CD Music. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude”, soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Amber Bounds.
