Mr. Lee Spivey, age 80, of West Green passed away Thursday morning, July 22, 2010, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mr. Spivey, a native of Coffee County, was a prominent Farmer of the West Green Community. He was the son of the late William Spivey and the late Gladys Harper Spivey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Spivey, and a sister, Earnestine S. Dupree, and a grandson, Kevin Carver. Mr. Spivey was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include: His Wife of 61 years: Leola Lott Spivey of West Green, Ga.; Children: Wanda Faye (John Wayne) Floyd of Jesup, Ga. ; Shirlene (Don) Stowe of Phenix City, Alabama, Thurston Lee (Mary) Spivey of Valdosta, Ga., and Kathrine (Don) Hixon of Montgomery, Alabama.; Sisters: Ineva (J. C.) Harper of Nicholls, Ga. ; Janell (Quinton) Paulk of West Green, Ga. ; Willadene (Lloyd) Gurley of Douglas, Ga. ; and Frances (Melvin) Harper of Brunswick, Ga.; Brothers: R. W. (Earline) Spivey of Ambrose, Ga. ; Larry (Patsy) Spivey of Nicholls, Ga. Carroll (Jo Ann) Spivey of West Green, Ga. ; and Wilton Spivey of Ambrose,Ga.; 12 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives, and Friends. Funeral Services were held Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Thurston Spivey, Elder Ray Fussell, and Bishop Luke Mizell conducting the Services. The Interment followed in the Elam Harper Cemetery, near Ambrose. Active Pallbearers were: Justin Whitaker, Jerry Waldron, Curtis Spivey, Jerry Carver, Rodney Peterson, Claude Ray, and Bennie Spivey. Special Musical Selections, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Oh, My Father”, were presented by Danny Solomon and President Dr. Timothy Fussell, with Becky Spivey, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Becky Spivey.
