Mr. Tom E. “Buck” Caves, Jr., age 87, of Broxton passed away Wednesday evening, June 23, 2010, at his Residence, following an extended illness. Mr. Caves, a native of Jeff Davis County, retired as Maintenance Superintendent with the Jeff Davis County School System. He was the son of the late Tom Eldridge Caves, Sr., and the late Georgian Odom Caves. He was preceded in death by 6 Brothers: Gervis Caves, Theodore Caves, James Caves, Arvis Caves, Bob McRae, and J. V. Ricketson. 5 Sisters: Minnie Buchans, Dollie Mae Hall, Rosa Harper, Mattie Lou Bolden, and Melcene Higgenbotham. Mr. Caves was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Survivors include: His Wife: Estelle Swails Caves of Broxton Ga. Children: Johnny (Shirley) Caves of Westgreen, Ga.; Melcene (Tommy) Beasley of Broxton, Ga., Wiley (Gloria) Caves of Broxton, Ga. and Paula Rogers of Lumber City, Ga. Grandchildren: Lamar Caves, Gregory Caves, Sherry Caves Heselwood, Melissa Beasley, Russell Beasley, Brandon Caves, Cory Caves, Melanie Cater, and Benjamin Bridges. 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roy Taylor officiating. A Special Eulogy was presented by Brandon Caves. The interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Greg Caves, Benjamin Bridges, Cory Caves, Brandon Caves, Russell Beasley, Chris Cater, Lamar Caves, and Harold Heselwood. Special Musical Selections, “Heavenly Chords”, presented by the Guitarist, Brandon Caves, “How Great Thou Art”, presented by the Soloist, Erin F. Caves, with CD Music, and “Amazing Grace”, presented by Russell & Melissa Beasley, with Jeffery Spell, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Jeffery Spell.
