Mrs. Wilene Chaney Smith, age 70, of Douglas passed away early Tuesday morning, May 11, 2010, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. Mrs. Smith, a native of Coffee County, was the daughter of the late Joseph Daniel Chaney and the late Alice Music Chaney, and the wife of the late William H. Smith. Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Sheila (Terry L.) Davis of Ambrose, Ga., Melinda (Ben) Carver of Douglas, Ga. 2 Brothers: Norman Chaney of Douglas, Ga., and Alton Chaney of Lake Park, Ga. 1 Sister: Janette Westbrook of Caledonia, Mississippi. 5 Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 5:00 P. M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. George C. Paulk officiating. The Interment followed in the Chatterton Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Matt Carver, Mitch Yarberry, Andy Davis, H. D. Spivey, Matt Stokes, Albert Watson, Justin Johns, Charles Johns, and Mikal Davis. Special Musical Selections, “Beulah Land”, and “Amazing Grace”, were rendered by the Soloist, Derick Soles, with Jessica Griffin, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were presented by the Pianist, Jessica Griffin.
