Mrs. Bernice Taylor Phillips Day, age 80, of Broxton passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia Hospital, in Macon, following injuries received in an auto accident. Mrs. Day, a native of Coffee County, was the daughter of the late George Taylor and the late Cora Mae Spell Taylor, and wife of the late Johnston Eugene “Gene” Phillips and the late Charles Edward Day. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Alene Harper, and Dorene Bennett. Mrs. Day was a member of the New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church. Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Beverly Kay (Donnie) Spires; Jo Ann (Johnny) Dykes, all of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Son: Tommy (Melba) Phillips of Douglas, Ga.; Step-Children: Glenda Johnson of Hazlehurst, Ga.; Joyce (James Byron) Gay of Broxton Ga. ; Johnny (Marla) Day of Douglas, Ga.; Jerome (Jan) Day ; Stanford (Billie Jean) Day ; Ronnie (Selena) Day ; Jimmy (Brenda) Day, all of Broxton, Ga.; Charles (Judy) Day of Apopka, Florida.; Step-Daughter-In-Law: Sandy Spivey of Broxton, Ga.; 3 Brothers: Junior Taylor ; and Carroll Taylor, both of Douglas, Ga., Edgar Taylor of Okeechobee, Florida ; and Eugene Taylor of Tampa, Florida.; 3 Sisters: Evelyn Roberts of Apopka, Florida; Ruth Jones of Douglas, Ga.; and Barbara Dykes of Alabama.; Grandchildren: Jeffery Martin Dykes of Douglas, Ga. ; Richard Eric Dykes ; Stephanie Kristen Hornsby of Waycross, Ga. ; Brian Phillips of West Green, Ga.; Angie Cauley of Denton, Ga.; Patricia Phillips ; Anthony Phillips ; Greg Spires ; and Michelle Odum, all of Douglas, Ga.; 12 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 2:00 P. M., at the New Corinth Holiness Church, with Rev. Jeffery Dykes, Rev. Joey Dean, and Rev. Rob Merritt officiating. The Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Austin Phillips, Brandon Hornsby, Blake Crosby, Cody Phillips, Zachary Dykes, and Colt Jones.; Special Musical Selections, “I Want Us To Be Together In Heaven”, “Supper Time”, “Build My Mansion”, and “Look What I Traded For A Mansion”, were rendered by the New Corinth Church Choir, with Sandra Sellers, at the Piano, and Terry Giddens, at the Organ.
