Mrs. Geraldine Cooper McDowell, age 71, of Douglas passed away Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. Mrs. McDowell, a native of West Green, Ga., had lived her life in the Coffee County area. She was the daughter of the late Carlie D. Cooper and the late Minnie Lee Clements Cooper. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Raymond Stapleton. Survivors include: Her Husband: John McDowell of Douglas, Ga. Children: Peggy Willis ; Glendora (Wayne) Harper ; and Vivian Horton & Fiance, Jimmy James Smith, all of Douglas, Ga., Tina (Scott) Scarborough of Milan, Ga. Sisters: Thelma Harper ; and Mary Ann Johnson, both of Brunswick, Ga., and Eloise Johnson of Indiana. 8 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren. Special Friend: Billie Jean Carver of Douglas, Ga. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 1:00 P. M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. George C. Paulk officiating. The Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Brandon Joiner, Jeremy Taylor, Troy Jacobs, Jr., Henry Adams, Nickel Bustos, Eddie Callejas. Honorary Pallbearers were: Rodney Adams, Troy Jacobs, Sr., Arcadio Bustos, Hamp Adams, and Dennis Adams. Special Musical Selections, “Wish You Were Here”, “You Raise Me Up”, and “So Long for Now”, were all rendered by CD Music.
