Mrs. Myrtice Irene Gunn Wingate, age 86, of Douglas passed away Tuesday evening, March 23, 2010, at the Tift Regional Medical Center, in Tifton, following an extended illness. Mrs. Wingate, a native of Worth County, had lived in the Douglas area for many years. She was the daughter of the late Jim Gunn and the late Carrie Huffstetler Gunn, and the wife of the late Roscoe Wingate, Sr. Mrs. Wingate was a former “Pink Lady” at Coffee Regional Medical Center. She retired from Riverside Uniform Company. Mrs.Wingate was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include: Children: Roscoe Wingate, Jr.; and Kathy (Gary) Murphy, all of Tifton, Ga. Carole (Larry) Hilliard of Douglas, Ga. Brothers: Gene (Latrelle) Gunn of Sylvester, Ga.; Charles (Charlene) Gunn of Leesburg, Ga. Sister: Sue Smith of Albany, Ga. 6 Grandchildren: Michael Wingate of West Palm Beach, Fla. ; Brent Wingate of Sylvester, Ga. Jeff (Sherri) Murphy ; Angela (Bill) Hornback, all of Douglas, Ga. Nicole (Greg) Hunkapiller of Sarasota, Fla. Courtney Drew Hilliard of Cambridge, Mass. 6 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, March 26, 2010, at 1:00 P. M., at the College Avenue Baptist Church, in Douglas, with Rev. Randy DeLoach and Dr. Stephen Hart officiating. The Interment followed in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, in Worth County. Active Pallbearers were: Cade Hunkapiller, Brent Wingate, John Smith, Jody Smith, Chester Gunn, Jeff Gunn, and Howard Johnson Special Musical Selections, “How Great Thou Art”, and “I Will Be There Soon”, were presented by the Soloist, Rev. Britt Peavy, with Robyn Vickers, at the Piano, and “It’s So Peaceful In The Arms Of My Lord”, presented by Latrelle Gunn and Gene Gunn, on the Guitar. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Robyn Vickers.
