Mrs. Carrie S. Parker, age 61, of Douglas passed away Tuesday morning, March 16, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Parker, a native of Waycross, Ga., had lived in the Coffee County area for most of her life. She had been employed as a Registered Nurse with Coffee Regional Medical Center for 35 years. She was the daughter of the late Archie Maynard Sparks and the late Florence Bertha Music Sparks. Ms. Parker was a member the Bushnell Chapel Church. Survivors include: Children: Chris (April) Parker of Willacoochee, Ga., and Kristy (Burt) Capps of Ambrose, Ga. Sisters: Marla (Johnny) Day of Ambrose, Ga., Flo (Archie) Inman; and Iris (Oscar) Merritt both of Douglas, Ga. Brother: Morris Sparks of Ambrose, Ga. Grandchildren: Halee Parker, and Evon Parker, both of Willacoochee, Ga. Step-Grandchildren: Tasha Dorminey ; Samantha Parker, both of Broxton, Ga. Step-Great Grandchildren: Sierra Dorminey ; and Riley Dorminey, both of Broxton, Ga. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, March 19, 2010, at 3:00 P. M., at Rocky Pond Baptist Church, with Rev. Roy Davis, Jr. and Rev. Gerald Gardner officiating. The Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Clint Brantley, Gerald Bradford, Gary Vickers, Joe Day, Johnny Wayne Jowers, and Johnnie Batten, Jr. Fellow Nursing Staff, RN’s, Physicians, and Nurses Aides served as Honorary Pallbearers. Special Musical Selections, “In the Garden”, was presented by Frances Smith, with Debbie Ward at the Piano, and Harry Smith on Harmonica, and “What A Day That Will Be”, was presented by CD Taped Music, and “Long, Long Journey”, presented by CD Taped Music by the Kirkland’s. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were presented by the Pianist, Debbie Ward.
