Mrs. Betty Frances Nelms McCauley, age 69, of Wray passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga., following an extended illness. Mrs. McCauley, a native of Ben Hill County, was the daughter of the late Acie Nelms and the late Eunie Mae Dixon Nelms. She was raised by the late Alvin & Ida Lee Gaskins. She had been employed by the Fitzgerald Utilities of Fitzgerald for many years. Mrs. McCauley attended the Wray Holiness Baptist Church. Survivors include: Husband: C. B. McCauley of Wray, Ga. Children: Judy Johnson of Broxton,Ga.; Kay McCauley of Jacksonville, Ga., and Tina Van Buren of Douglas, Ga. Sisters: Joyce Smith; and Doris McDuffie, both of Fitzgerald, Ga. Brother: Jack Nelms of Fitzgerald, Ga. Grandchildren: Emilee Johnson; and Andrew Johnson both of Broxton, Ga. Step-Grandchildren: Lauren & Lindsey Van Buren of Seattle, Washington. Kaitlyn Van Buren of Center Hill, Florida. Special Friends: Maude Merritt ; Hazel Phillips, both of Wray, Ga., and Druscilla Hudson of Ocilla, Ga. Several Nieces, Nephews, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 10:00 A. M., at the Wray Holiness Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Willingham, Rev. Rob Merritt, and Rev. Kenneth Matthews officiating. The Interment followed in the Wray Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Buddy Nelms, Ronnie Nelms, Freddie Langdale, Jim Walker, Jeff Lewis, Kim Phillips. Honorary Pallbearers were: Brad Fuller, Aldean Merritt, Michael Merritt, Donnie Smith, T. J. Carver, Ronnie Merritt, Keith Phillips, George Dockery, Employees of the Fitzgerald Utilities, and the Congregation. Special Musical Selections, “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone”, was presented by the Soloist, Randy McDuffie, with Taped CD Music, “I Just Stopped By On My Way Home”, was presented by the Soloist, Jessica Medders, with Michael Mosley, at the Piano, “ How Great Thou Art”, was presented by the Soloist, Jerry Daniels, with Terry Giddens, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Terry Giddens.
